Our league is led by an all-volunteer Board of Directors. Board activities including meetings, roles and responsibilities, and elections are governed by our bylaws.
Commissioner
I'm a lifelong football fan, who loves playing and coaching the game. Prior to joining the PVDGFFL in its inaugural season, my football experience included playing in high school and college, and coaching youth and high school football. Since joining the league, I've competed in multiple national and regional tournaments and captained PVDGFFL regular-season and tournament teams. There's no other sport that can match football's ability to bring people together and create a sense of family. Nothing brings me more joy than teaching the game and seeing someone fall in love with it. This league is about so much more than football. While many join for the competition or a way to try something new, others join for the community/friendships, and still others see the league as an escape or a way to heal. The beauty of our league is that it can serve all those purposes. No matter how you found our league, or what purpose it serves in your life, I'm happy you're here! The people in this league have become part of my family and I'm honored to give back to this community. Our league is built on a foundation of tremendous diversity and strong sense of community. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or have never set foot on a field, we welcome you and invite you to join our family.

I am so beyond honored to be a part of the board for 2023. I have been with the league since 2019 and look forward to helping the league become even bigger and better! When I'm not working with the league I am a crazy dog mom and traveling/going on adventures with my fiance. Spending time with friends and making queer connections every chance I can.
Co-Director of Football Operations
My name is John Mancone and my pronouns are he, his, him. I am Co-Director of Football Operations and this is my 4th year serving on the board of directors. I started playing flag football in Boston and loved the experience there so much that I gladly helped to form a league here in Providence. This league really has become a beautiful chosen family and I strive to give as many players in our league the same positive experience that I have had. I am a history teacher by trade and a GSA advisor for the school I work at.
Co-Director of Football Operations
Sean has been a permanent resident of Providence, RI since May 2020. For work, he serves as the Manager of Emerging Talent Programs at Splunk and is an adjunct faculty member in the Master of Arts in Organizational Psychology (MAOP) program at William James College. He holds a MA from William James College and a BS from Johnson & Wales University. Sean joined PVDGFFL in Fall of 2021, having never played football before. After a great first season, he applied to a Board position and was elected for 2022 to oversee Football Operations, and he is excited to continue on in this role for 2023.
Director of Fundraising and Sponsorships
Anthony DeRose (Director of Fundraising & Sponsorships) - Anthony began his time with the Providence Gay Flag Football League during the Inaugural Fall season in 2019 and never left. His dedication and love for the Providence Flag Football League is pure and deep. On the field, you will usually see him playing on the offensive as a lineman or center or shouting one of many his unique catchphrases ("Dial it up!") from the sidelines. As a player, Anthony has had the opportunity to compete on several travel teams including the Blue Lobsters (Gay Bowl XXI), the New England Snowbirds (Sunshine Cup XI), as well as, a team supporter for the Pink Lobsters (Pride Bowl 2022). Anthony has also served as co-captain for several league teams including Black Magick and Maroon Rogue. Anthony does his best to bring energy, positive energy and fun to every team he is a part of. This is Anthony's third year serving on the Board of Directors. Serving as Director of Events & Marketing/Communications during his first year, he returns to the board as Director of Fundraising and Sponsorships for his second year in a row. This past Fall, Anthony was awarded with the Commissioner's Award for his hard work and dedication to the league. When off the field, Anthony serves as the Chair of the Rhode Island Democratic Party's LGBTQ+ Caucus. And, if you are lucky, you might catch him out and about town as Rhode Island's Drag Sweetheart, Miss Jacqueline DiMera - star of stage, screen and the occasional Only Fans video (JK....maybe.) He looks forward to another year filled with friends, football and community and is excited to be working with board filled with some amazing and equally dedicated people.
Director of Recruitment and Player Development
Having lived in Rhode Island for 10 years I've come to love the area and all the opportunities it has to offer. Having played in an LGTBQ+ softball league for the better part of that time, joining this league was a no brainer! Being part of this league that has helped so many people since the beginning is an experience I wouldn't trade for the world and I look forward to giving back to a league that has given to so many!

He's enjoyed many seasons both on and off the field and is looking forward to the challenges of supporting the league and the wider community.
Director of Marketing and Communication
My "day-job" is as a pediatric psychologist at Hasbro Children's Hospital. I started in PVDGFFL during the inaugural season after moving to Providence in 2018. I had never played football before, nonetheless even watched much football. Growing up as a kid, football always seemed hyper masculine and frankly, a very homophobic sport. My first captain with PVDGFFL left a huge impression and I learned not only the value of teamwork, but also having a community that is now part of my chosen family. I have played every season since the inaugural season, including participating in a few travel teams and some volunteering opportunities. I joined the board to give back much more to the league that has given me a lot.
Director of Volunteerism and Community Outreach
After moving to RI from Philadelphia in 2020, I was lucky to find the PVD GFFL in 2022; joining the Board in 2023. This community continues to amaze me and has brought so much positive to my time here in RI that I was thrilled to be elected to the board after my first season. I grew up in CT and went to High School in Maine before graduating from Arizona State. When I'm not chasing flags, I enjoy fitness, spending time with my two dogs (Henry and Zeze) and traveling around the world.
Director of Captains
Michael is a 20+ season veteran of the Providence & Boston flag football leagues. He has been a player or captain in over 10 travel teams, as well as the 2016 Ally of the Year in Boston, the 2022 Captain of the Year in Providence, and a nominee to the NGFFL Hall of Fame. Outside of Football, Michael has held leadership roles as a City Councilor in his hometown of Winthrop, MA, previous board member of the Winthrop Chamber of Commerce and the Fund for Education Abroad, and current board member for EforAll Lynn. Professionally he runs three coworking spaces (Inc.ubate Coworking) on the North Shore of Boston. He's an avid sports and music fan, and the proud cat dad of two.
Director of Travel Teams
Director of Health and Safety
I've been here supporting the league from the sidelines since summer of 2021 when I moved to Rhode Island from Maine and finally joined the league in the spring of 2022. Providence has welcomed me like a second home and this league has felt like an extended family. I am excited to be a part of this growing community of wonderfully talented individuals.
